WHY GIVE?

Giving, also known as tithing, is a biblical principle that churches have practiced throughout the years. Google defines "tithe” as "one-tenth of annual produce or earnings, formerly taken as a tax for the support of the church and clergy." The origin of the word tithe is from Old English tēotha (adjective in the ordinal sense 'tenth,' used in a specialized sense as a noun), tēothian (verb).

Now, times are a little different. Vegetables and livestock aren't necessarily useful resources in today's church. However, there are still ways you can participate in giving. At Set Free, we still believe in the wonderful power and blessings that can come from giving to the local church. We've heard many stories from people who chose to honor God in every area of their lives, including their finances. They experienced countless blessings. We're not saying God works like a magic genie - "Give Him $100 now, and he will grant you 3 wishes." We believe the more you honor God with your life, the more joy, and blessings you will experience. Matthew 6:33 says, “But seek ye first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things shall be added unto you." (KJV)
